MacLeod Ale Brewing Co is an established Van Nuys brewery that offers an impressive selection of craft beer. They brew a variety of cask-conditioned ales, including the old-school MacLeod – a British style lager. In fact, they produce one of the best-tasting beers in the LA area.
The brewery has two locations, one in the heart of the LA Valley (Van Nuys) and another in Highland Park. Each location is unique in their own right, with the former offering a full-scale brewing facility while the latter offers the only on-site brewery. Another bonus is that you can order beer delivered to your door. However, the location is dicey in parking terms, so you may want to do your homework before you head out to the brewery.
The brewery is located at 14741 Calvert Street in Van Nuys, about a half-mile from the Metro Orange Line busway and just a few miles from the Los Angeles County Courthouse. The taproom is open from 4pm to midnight every day, and on most holidays, the brewery is open. While you’re there, you’ll want to sample their pizza and other gastro-pub fare. And the small-batch aficionado in you will enjoy taking a tour of the tasting room, which is decorated in old-school style. You’ll also get a glimpse of their seven-barrel production brewery.
